At the beginning of the year, Exponential will send you your Transactions Report for the year prior. This report can help you file your own taxes or in collaboration with a certified accountant in your country. As a reminder, Exponential cannot assist you with tax-related inquiries, so please reach out to a certified professional in your country.

Here a few frequently asked questions about the Transactions Report:

What is this report?

The report will facilitate your tax filing by listing all the events that are potentially taxable in your country, such as:

  • Investments you sold

  • Token Rewards you received for investing into pools where a third-party granted them

  • Promotion bonuses you received granted by Exponential

Is this a tax form?

No. Exponential cannot provide tax advice, but the information herein is all that you need to file your taxes. Exponential does not report these transactions to tax authorities locally. Please consult a tax advisor to know what's the best path for you in reporting these transactions.

How do I read this report?

Column

Description

event_type

The type of potentially taxable event. It is either:

- Sell: any investments you sold and received proceeds

- Rewards: all the token rewards you earned for investing into pools where a third-party granted them (usually the pool's protocol). Think of Rewards similar to "dividends". Exponential continuously claims these rewards and reinvests them on your behalf.

- Promotion: any bonus you earned for participating and qualifying for any of our promotions

pool_id

The pool identifier or name.

order_id

A 6 character identifier of the sell order that triggered the event.

date_acquired

The date when you invested in the pool.

date_sold

The date when you received the proceeds of your sell order.

lot_quantity

The number of pool tokens in the transaction.

entry_asset

The asset you used in the buy order to invest in the pool.

In some cases, the entry asset appears as "Reinvested rewards", which means the pool granted you token rewards and Exponential reinvested those rewards into the pool.

cost_basis_quantity

The quantity of the entry asset you used to invest in the pool.

cost_basis_usd_value_net

The USD value after fees of the assets you used to invest in the pool.

exit_asset

The asset in which you received the proceeds of your sell order.

proceeds_quantity

The quantity of exit asset you received.

proceeds_usd_value_net

The USD value after fees of the proceeds of your sell order.

fees_paid_usd

All service fees you paid across the buy and sell orders involved in this transaction.

yield_income_usd

For reference only, the USD value of yield earned from the investments you sold.

Why do I have multiple Reward orders?

Exponential continuously claims token rewards granted to your investments. We do this multiple times a week and reinvest them on your behalf every month. The rewards are reinvested into the same pool that earned you those token rewards.

If you have already sold the investment that granted you the rewards by the moment we try to reinvest, we sell those token rewards and send you the proceeds in USDC directly to your wallet.

Whether we reinvested them on your behalf or you received them as USDC, token rewards count as yield income for you on the moment we claim them.

Can I request my report again?
